ANTENNA DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

In today's competitive wireless environment, creating a product that stands out and meets the demands of consumers is a big challenge for every company. We know that achieving reliable, high-performance wireless connectivity hinges on how well the antenna has been designed and implemented within your product. Every design comes with its own unique challenges. Whether it’s an off the shelf solution or designing a custom antenna, our engineers provide true RF and Microwave expertise.

RF designs often require an inventive solution. Our antenna design team has the right development tools and experience to ensure that we provide the perfect combination of expertise and equipment to maximize the range, throughput and quality of your wireless product. AGS-Engineering has access to a full service wireless & antenna design, simulation and test measurement facility. Custom antennas are designed and optimized after careful consideration of your products unique trade-offs. Whether it be a complex structure or a desire to minimize your BOM (Bill of Materials) cost, a custom antenna will provide you with the best performance. AGS-Engineering will maximize your wireless range, because custom antennas have the highest efficiency. A custom design will maximize your product’s wireless range and improve the user’s experience. Don’t let unrealized wireless range diminish the reputation of your brand. Own an antenna that is optimized for your product.
Antennas are 3-dimensional electromagnetic structures, so nearby components can significantly degrade the wireless range. A custom antenna design minimizes these effects, making your product or system achieve optimal performance. The custom antenna design is your intellectual property, own your antenna. Furthermore, minimize BOM costs, off-the-shelf antennas can be expensive. AGS-Engineering antenna engineers can drastically reduce this cost. Working with us, you will achieve a rapid time to market, because we will efficiently integrate an antenna into your product, allowing you to focus on other areas of product development. AGS-Engineering is able to offer you:

In the antenna chamber, we can carry out the following tests:

  • Antenna Pattern Measurements which characterize the antenna’s radiated performance by driving the antenna with a vector network analyzer (VNA). Performance parameters measured include the peak gain, gain versus angle, efficiency, directivity, polarization, 3D and 2D gain patterns etc.

  • Total Radiated Power (aka TRP) which evaluates the transmitter and antenna's composite performance for a comprehensive indication of wireless range performance. The key parameters measured are peak EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiate Power), TRP, EIRP versus angle, 3D and 2D EIRP patterns...Efficiency and peak gain can be calculated if transmitter output measurements are performed.

  • Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) which is a measure of the minimum received power required to achieve a specific bit error rate (BER). This test is dependent on key factors such as conducted receiver sensitivity, antenna efficiency, and self-quieting. Self-quieting are the emissions from the device under test (DUT), that are radiated at the same frequency as the signals the receiver is trying to receive. This test is commonly performed on cellular products.

EMC AND WIRELESS TESTING

If you have a new electronic product, electromagnetic compliance (EMC) and RF certification for all your target markets globally is absolutely critical. Planning for EMC and wireless compliance must be there from the very start of the design in order for you to be able to launch your new product. That’s where EMC Test Services come in. AGS-Engineering test engineers work with you before, during, and after EMC and wireless radio testing, helping to troubleshoot and advise every step of the way. With our wireless testing services, we bring expertise to your project through a thorough understanding of the various certification standards required for market entry across the World. Our wireless and RF test engineers have the right combination of skill sets and experience including testing, design and manufacturing, so we can take projects from start to finish. Test lab is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited and specializes in Intentional Radiation Testing required for certification of wireless and RF products. We perform on-site testing for Product and Modular Certifications based on requirements for the FCC, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. For customers who require even broader certifications, we provide additional International Testing Services to complete the required testing and certification documentation for South America and other countries. If you require assistance with compliance testing for non-wireless products, we also have expertise in General Emissions Testing and Immunity & Susceptibility Testing to the various EMC requirements. We are here to fulfill the rapidly changing compliance requirements for your wireless products. We offer on-site antenna patterning, with an automated 3D Antenna Measurement System. This dedicated antenna test chamber uses mechanical automation and software to accurately and efficiently perform 3D scanning. This system collects spherical antenna pattern data, then generates antenna plots and performance summaries that provide detailed insight into the performance of your product's antenna.

PCB & PCBA DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

A printed circuit board, or briefly denoted as PCB, is used to mechanically support and electrically connect electronic components using conductive pathways, tracks, or traces, etched commonly from copper sheets laminated onto a non-conductive substrate. A PCB populated with electronic components is a printed circuit assembly (PCA), also known as a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). The term PCB is often used informally for both bare and assembled boards. PCBs are sometimes single sided (meaning they have one conductive layer), sometimes double sided (meaning they have two conductive layers) and sometimes they come as multi-layer structures (with outer and inner layers of conductive paths). To be more explicit, in these multi-layer printed circuit boards, multiple layers of material are laminated together. PCBs are inexpensive, and can be highly reliable. They require much more layout effort and higher initial cost than either wire-wrapped or point-to-point constructed circuits, but are much cheaper and faster for high-volume production. Much of the electronics industry's PCB design, assembly, and quality control needs are set by standards that are published by the IPC organization.

We have engineers specialized in PCB & PCBA design & development and testing. If you have a project you would like us to evaluate, contact us. We will take into consideration available space in your electronic system and use the most suitable EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools available to create the schematic capture. Our experienced designers will place the components and heat sinks in the most suitable locations on your PCB. We can either create board from schematic and then create the GERBER FILES for you or we can use your Gerber files to manufacture the PCB boards and verify their operation. We are flexible, so depending on what you have available and what you need done by us, we will do it accordingly. As some manufacturers require it, we create the Excellon file format too for specifying drill holes. Some of the EDA tools we use are:

  • EAGLE PCB design software

  • KiCad

  • Protel
